Part C (Advantage)
Medicare Advantage plans from private insurers.
Part C — also called Medicare Advantage — is an alternative to Original Medicare offered by private insurers approved by Medicare.
Advantage plans bundle Part A, Part B, and usually Part D, and often include extras like dental, vision, or fitness benefits.
Key points
- You still pay your Part B premium; the plan may add a premium of its own.
- Uses networks (HMO/PPO) — check that your doctors are included.
- Yearly out-of-pocket max on Part A and B services.
- You can switch during AEP (Oct 15 – Dec 7) or the Medicare Advantage OEP (Jan 1 – Mar 31).
